 As you can see the watercolour figure study has been completed and it’s much better than expected, why? As with all my work watercolour or oils I like to experiment, this watercolour has not been the exception. The purpose of this painting was to accomplish highlighting areas before painting, instead of doing the usual drawing then painting adding highlights as I go along. This requires confidence as a mistake at this stage cannot be undone later, besides using ink on the figure it was also used on the greenery and background. I realise this is not the ‘recognised way’ of doing a figure study, but hell – rules are meant to be broken! The model, a personal friend in America, is pleased with the result and that’s all that matters. Of course your opinions are always welcome. My thanks to her for letting me display this work.
